Day 16: Treasure

The theme for Day 16 o Photo 101 is ‘Treasure’. Possessions don’t mean that much to me, so the real treasures in my life are people, experiences and moments so here are a few photos of the special ‘treasures’ in my life.

My husband Miguel. We have been together almost 13 years and married almost for 6 years now. It was our mutual love of all things spiritual that brought us together. Whilst I am more on a witchcraft oriented path, Miguel has developed into an amazing shaman.

My friend Sara. A very talented raw chocolate (cacoa) maker and my fellow colouring-in-er!

My friend Sherry. she’s amazing! She runs the fantastic Southend Soup, and has organised other great events such as running the Southend Philosophy group in the past. She regularly fundraises for various charities by taking part in half marathons and organising events. She’s also a talented writer and a happy soul, who always makes me smile!

My friend Fiona. Fiona is also amazing! She has never given up on me. When I failed to get the feminist group I wanted to do up and running, she turned up every meeting anyway! She’s very creative, a good cook and a brilliant gardener.

One of my oldest friends Rachel. She is funny, unique and super clever. Sadly she moved to Switzerland a few years ago but we try to see each other when we can.

Finally my family. My mum taught me how to be good with money and she is very resourceful. My dad gave me my love of music (even if they vary slightly)! and my brother Aaron is a very talented animator. Also in the picture is his girlfriend Stacey, who is also very lovely.

Obviously there’s lots of other people but these are just a few of my favourites!

Day 14: Scale and Observation

Today’s theme for Photo 101 is Scale and Observation. I tried to be arty today and use objects at home.(shame birthday wasn’t the theme as today is mine lol) I used a tiny cat figurine I have, and a newspaper, then took the photo from ground level.

Day 13: Moment

Today’s theme for Photo 101 is “Moment”. This was quite a hard one, so haven’t been able to take a fresh photo today, however the one I’m going to share is one I took this past Saturday at the large Anti-Austerity march in London. To me it’s a moment of solidarity between two women. I love that one of them is holding a banner that says “Where is truth and beauty?” To me they themselves are the truth and beauty. It’s a beautiful moment.

Day 11: A Pop of Colour

Today’s theme for the Photo 101 challenge was ‘Pop of Colour’ this one I have found the hardest, despite going for a walk and looking around my home I just couldn’t feel inspired. So this photo is from a few years ago when we went to the Kuan Yin Shrine in Amsterdam.

Day 10: Mystery

Today’s theme for the Photo 101 challenge was ‘Mystery’ – definitely a more challenging theme! So today I went for a walk in Priory park, one of the biggest parks nearby to me and visited one of their “walled” gardens, which to me was full of mystery…

I do love images of pathways!

Then I saw this sign that says basically that in the middle of this garden there is a case buried of memorabilia from 1992 not to be opened until 2092! i wonder what’s in there? It’s a mystery!

and finally there were these mysterious flowers left on a bench, were they left for a person that had died? left behind by someone by mistake?

Days 7 and 8: “Big” and “Natural World”

Catching up with Photo 101 challenge today, and I’ve got lots of photos to share! I’m loving the ┬ácamera on my new phone.

Yesterday the theme was ‘Big’ and as it happens I went to London for the day the land of ‘Big!” So I took a few photos of ‘Big’ things like this Zulu warrior outside a restaurant in Camden.

and this outside Liverpool Street Station

and finally a tall building in Aldgate, there was the additional optional challenge of trying different points of view so here they are:

and the topic for today was ‘Natural World’ which as most of my regular readers will know is my favourite topic! So I went on a little walk along Prittle Brook, looking for the additional challenge of finding lines. Lines are everywhere in nature so I had to stop myself from taking any more!
